How To Make Your Own Waterless Hand Sanitizer

As I write this, the swine flu has created a run on alcohol based hand sanitizers.  Now you could just pour rubbing alcohol or, preferably vodka in a squeeze bottle.  But a gel based formula is nicer to use and easy to make:
Step One:
Start your natural hand sanitizer by choosing a container of your choice. This recipe will work in plastic squeeze bottles, or mini spray bottles. Look for these in the travel accessories area of health and beauty departments.
Step Two:hand_sanitizers__alcohol_gel_
Use the following recipe:
  • 1 cup aloe vera gel (not juice).
  • 1/4 cup distilled or boiled water.
  • 1 tsp vodka or rubbing alcohol.
  • 1 Tbsp vegetable glycerin.
  • 8-10 drops of any pure essential oil.   (Do not use fragrance oils.)  All essential oils are antibacterial but some are easier on your skin than others.   Tea tree and lavender are great for hand cleaners.
Mix all ingredients in a glass bowl and pour into the plastic containers.
